CastlebridgeInspire Argument Rules

CastlebridgeInspire Rules of Engagement for Arguments

(Applicable while in the township of Castlebridge, Ireland – Birthplace of the Guinness World Records, and home of the Inpiration Site)

  1. Start with Curiosity, Not Combat
Begin every argument with a question, not an accusation. Assume the other person has something valuable to teach you.
  2. Respect the Person, Challenge the Idea
Focus on debating ideas – never attacking individuals. Every participant deserves dignity, regardless of their view.
  3. Take Turns, Don’t Take Over
Listen as much as you speak. Pause, reflect, and make space for others – especially those less heard.
  4. Facts are Friends
Bring evidence, not just opinions. Bonus points if you reference a record from the Guinness World Records book!
  5. Use the ‘Castlebridge Book Rule’
If the argument gets stuck, refer to a book – any book – to bring in an outside perspective and break the deadlock.
  6. No Shouting. No Shaming. No Shutting Down.
Calm voices carry further. No one should feel silenced, shamed, or shouted down.
  7. Be Open to Changing Your Mind
The highest form of strength in Castlebridge is being willing to say: “That’s a fair point. I hadn’t thought of it that way.”
  8. End with Inspiration
Every Castlebridge argument must end with a shared insight, laugh, or idea for action. Leave the circle better than you found it.
  9. Disagree with Style
Use wit, stories, metaphors, and even poetry to make your point. This is Ireland, after all.
  10. Celebrate the Argument
After every spirited debate, shake hands, share a cup of tea (or something stronger), and acknowledge the value of the exchange.
